CANDIDATE INFORMATION:
Van Alstyne ISD will be filling the following positions (3 year term limit)
  • Place 3 - currently held by Randall Morgan
  • Place 4 - currently held by Debbie Nance
 
Important 2023 Election Dates:
First Day to File for Place on General Election - Wednesday, January 18, 2023
Last Day to File for Place on General Election - Friday, February 17, 2023 @ 5:00pm.
Application to file for School Board can be picked up at the Administration office beginning January 18, 2023 during normal office hours. Candidates must complete an application and Form CTA.
 
Early Voting and Election Day Voting will be held at the Grayson College South Campus located at 1455 W Van Alstyne Parkway.
 
Early Voting times
April 24-28   8:00am to 5:00pm
May 1-2        7:00am to 7:00pm
 
May 6th Election Day
7:00am to 7:00pm
 
 
Qualifications to Run for School Board
school board candidate must:
Be a registered voter, be a resident of the district he/she is running in and have at least a high school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalency.
 
All school board positions are three-year terms and represent the entire school district.  All Van Alstyne ISD residents who meet eligibility requirements specified in Board Policy BBA (Legal) may run for a position in the Board of Trustee election.  
 
The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) offers a free online training course designed by experienced school board members especially for people considering running for the school board.  This course explains what to expect when serving as a school board member.
