Van Alstyne ISD BUS RULES AND REGULATIONS
- The bus will not wait for late students. Students are expected to be at the stop 5 minutes before the scheduled pick up time. Once a bus has their doors shut and starts to roll away from the bus stop, the driver will not stop to load late students.
- Buses will stop at designated stops only.
- Students must remain seated at all times and face the front of the bus. Aisles must remain clear. If the bus is equipped with seat belts – it is Texas state law that students wear them.
- Students must follow the driver's instructions at all times. Drivers are authorized to assign seats and may do so for any reason.
- Students will keep their hands to themselves. Rough-housing and fighting is not allowed.
- No objects may be thrown inside or outside the bus. Nothing should be extended outside the windows at any time.
- Emergency doors and windows are for emergency purposes only.
- All illegal substances, activities, and items are prohibited on the bus. If it isn’t allowed at school, it isn’t allowed on the bus.
- Cursing, obscenities, harassment, and bullying are forbidden.
- Students may not eat, drink (anything but water) or litter while on the bus.
- Property damage and vandalism are prohibited. Students may be required to pay for any damage to any part of the bus including seats and equipment.
- Cell Phones should be used with discretion. If a student's cell phone becomes a distraction or safety issue, the driver can ask the student to put the phone away or the driver may take it away from the student until they arrive at the student's bus stop.
- All items brought on board must fit in the student's lap. Any item which takes up another student's seat and cannot fit safely in the student's lap is prohibited on the bus.
- Skateboards are not allowed on the bus
- Elementary School students are dismissed earlier than Middle School, Junior High, and High School students. As a result, Elementary routes will arrive and drop off students earlier in the afternoon than secondary routes.
ANY VIOLATION OF THE BUS RULES AND REGULATIONS CAN RESULT IN DISCIPLINARY CONSEQUENCES AND THE SUSPENSION OF BUS RIDING PRIVILEGES
