Parents, this is Dr. Moore, the principal of Van Alstyne Middle School.  I want to address a couple issues to keep you informed about your child’s safety.  As you know, there was an alleged threat earlier in the week that turned out to be unsubstantiated.  There has also been another alleged threat that some of you have heard about, and I want you to know that VAISD and the Van Alstyne Police Department are working together to resolve the situation and ensure the safety of everyone on our campus.  I can assure you that your child’s safety is our #1 priority and we are taking the appropriate actions to provide your child with a safe and rich learning environment.

In addition, I will be meeting with each grade level of students either today or Monday and emphasizing with them the importance of being wise and careful about what they say, whether they are kidding or not.  Any child making a threat or falsely accusing someone of making a threat will be dealt with quickly and will have a significant consequence.
