Mrs. Mandi Brown, Van Alstyne Middle School's 8th grade science teacher, was named as VAISD's Teacher of the Year.  Each VAISD school selected a Teacher of the Year for their campus and each candidate was asked to submit two essays as a part of the district Teacher of the Year application.  A panel of judges, not associated with the school district, were asked to choose a top candidate to be named district Teacher of the Year.

 

In her essay, Mrs. Brown said that she is "extremely proud to work in education."  She said, "I cannot think of a more rewarding career than having the opportunity daily to empower students and to see their own potential through their mistakes and successes."  

 

Superintendent, Dr. David Brown, Middle School Principal, Ryan Coleman, Middle School Assistant Principal, Dr. Kelly Moore, and members of the Van Alstyne Education Foundation surprised Mrs. Brown with the news on Friday morning.
