VAMS STC Class Awarded Grant

Stephanie Fernandez, STC teacher at VAMS, applied for the grant and had students in the class write letters expressing how much they could benefit from the tricycles.  “The students had no idea we won,” Fernandez said.  Chad Kleis from Hunter’s Autism Specials came to present the bicycles, while Principal Ryan Coleman and Assistant Principal Kelly Moore rode the bicycles out on stage for the big reveal.

Kleis started Hunter’s Autism Specials shortly after his son was diagnosed with Autism, and hopes to use this non-profit organization to make a difference by providing support and programs for special needs individuals.  Classic BMW helped provide the tricycles that were donated.

Due to the weather on Friday, students were not able to test out the tricycles outside after they were awarded, however they did get to ride up and down the hallways a few times after the presentation.  The class hopes to be able to get a lot of use out of the new additions to their classroom.
