📢Van Alstyne Earns an “A” on State Accountability

🎉We are 1 of 10 traditional ISD"s in Region 10 to receive an A rating!!!!!

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has released the A–F accountability ratings for the 2022–2023 school year, and we’re proud to announce that Van Alstyne ISD has earned an “A” rating! This recognition reflects the incredible dedication of our teachers, administrators, staff, and—most importantly—our students. We are proud of the hard work and commitment that made this possible.

The release of this rating was delayed due to a statewide controversy surrounding changes to the College, Career, and/or Military Readiness (CCMR) indicator. In April 2023, TEA raised the threshold for achieving an “A” in CCMR from 60% to 88%, and applied this change retroactively to the previous year’s graduates, leading to a lengthy review process.

It’s important to note that while the label is new, the student-level data from the 2022–2023 school year has been in our hands since last summer. At VAISD, we’ve never waited on a rating to act—we’ve been using that data exactly as intended: to plan. We analyze what worked, identify who needs extra support or greater challenges, and use it to guide professional development and instructional planning. Every decision we make is about ensuring each student is supported, challenged, and empowered to grow.

We’re thankful for the continued support of our community and school board—this “A” belongs to all of us. Together, we’ll continue putting students first and striving for excellence in everything we do.
