Last year alone, VAEF was able to award $35,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors. The ability to provide these students with resources to help further their education- whether at a university, a community college, or a vocational school- is exactly what VAEF is all about. The 2017 VAEF scholarship application is due on March 10, 2017 at 3:45 PM to Mrs. McBryde in the VAHS Front Office.
Teacher Grants are another way that VAEF serves the school district. Through these Teacher Grants, VAISD educators are able to apply for innovative classroom ideas that will enhance learning for their students. Last year, VAEF provided $35,000 in Teacher Grants, for ideas such as standing desks, maker spaces, a green screen, and the Reagan and Grant Garden. In the past, these Teacher Grants have been awarded in May, at the end of the school year; however, this year they will be given away at the beginning of the 2017-2018 year so that teachers are able to utilize the grants all year long. Grant applications will go live on the VAEF webpage before school gets out and will be due about two weeks after school begins. More information about the Teacher Grant application will be emailed to VAISD staff towards the end of this semester.
VAEF has two upcoming events, the Denim and Diamonds Gala and the Little Big Town 5k and Fun Run. The 4th Annual Denim and Diamonds Gala will be held on Thursday, March 23 at Heritage Springs Events Center. Tickets, Sponsorships, and Donations for the silent and live auction are now live. The 9th Annual Little Big Town 5K and Fun Run will take place on Saturday, May 6 in downtown Van Alstyne. The 5K course is USA Track and Field certified, and awards are given out to overall male and female youth and adult division finishers.
